Brief Bio
Dr. Bates Freed specializes in health psychology, helping patients of all ages draw on their strengths to manage the physical, emotional, family, and spiritual impacts of illness. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology at Antioch University Santa Barbara, following training at the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara (where she later worked as Support Services Coordinator and facilitator of children's and teens groups) and the Glendale Adventist Family Practice Residency Program. She completed post-doctoral training at the Children's Clinic of Santa Barbara County ADMHS and serves on the adjunct faculty of Antioch University Santa Barbara and Colorado State University.
